They arranged a market feasibility study and determined that the location, with no food or bar in a wide radius of the location despite lots of popular recreation destinations, was perfectly suited for both an up-scale convenience store and a sports bar. So the partners tore the hotel down, creating an expansive footprint, and they decided to go big. When owners Toby and Elizabeth Doeden and Kevin and Kara Pharis purchased the building, which had been a Max & Erma’s restaurant, they had the opportunity to purchase a neighboring hotel – one of the original Super 8 hotels – under the condition that the building could no longer operate as a hotel.
The building will also host a sports bar and grill with casino games.
The front of the facility will be a state-of-the-art Sinclair fuel station with six pump islands and an up-scale convenience store that will include Street Corner’s new fresh, made-to-order food service. A new Street Corner under construction in northwest Aberdeen, South Dakota, will feature amenities like no other.
